We are pleased to share that Ina Boyle’s legacy is featured in a new three-part RTÉ documentary series, Trinity’s Treasures, which highlights the historic collections held at Trinity College Dublin.
In the episode broadcasting on Friday 24th July 2026, presenter and artist Eleanor McEvoy explores Trinity’s music archives alongside Roy Stanley, who, as Music Librarian at the Library of Trinity College Dublin for over 35 years, facilitated access to Ina Boyle’s music manuscripts and arranged to have many of them digitised through the Library’s Digital Collections platform.
During the broadcast, Roy shares several original items from the archives, including the manuscript score for Ina’s The Magic Harp, her compositions memoranda, and the notebook documenting her lessons with Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Ina Boyle was a remarkably prolific composer, though the majority of her extensive output remained unperformed and in manuscript form for decades. The bulk of this collection was generously donated to Trinity College Dublin shortly after her death in 1967 by her cousin, Doreen Boyle. The donation was arranged by Ina’s close friend, composer Dame Elizabeth Maconchy, alongside Professor Brian Boydell. In 1997, Dame Elizabeth’s daughter, Professor Nicola LeFanu, further expanded the collection by donating additional manuscripts to the library.
